We are in desperate need for cat fosters!Foster homes are also needed for animals that require medical care. All foster animals will need plenty of love and reassurance that humans are not to be feared. By providing orphaned animals with plenty of nutrition, love, and stimulation during their first eight weeks of life, foster homes help ensure their health and survival as adults. We work closely with foster families to make sure the animal they are caring for is a good fit for the level of care they are able to provide. You can foster adult cats, pregnant cats, or momma cat and kittens. These cats will need to be kept separate from your own pets until they are fully vetted. Once they are available for adoption they will go to Petsense Morristown where they will be adopted quickly.

Grainger County Humane Society covers the cost of litter, food, and medical care.

Fosters do not have to live in Grainger County but would need to be willing travel there on occasion.

We always need more fosters.

Due to the fact that GCHS does not have a shelter foster homes are critical to us rescuing dogs in Grainger County. We need foster homes for all ages and sized of dogs. Foster caregivers play a crucial role in rehabilitating rescued animals. They are in a unique position to help abused or neglected animals learn how to love and trust again. They can help these animals become more “adoptable” by providing socialization and basic training. By teaching or re-teaching an animal how to live in a home setting, caregivers help increase the odds for a smooth and successful transition into a permanent home.We make every effort to match foster animals with the appropriate foster home.  Fosters are always given a choice when a dog becomes available and can decline placement. GCHS covers all the costs for food and medical care for dogs in foster care.

We do not currently have any TNR volunteers. We know it is important but if we don't have volunteers step up it isn't a service we can provide. We need volunteers throughout Grainger County for Trap-Neuter-Return program, in which community cats are humanely trapped (with box traps), brought to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, eartipped (the universal sign that a community cat has been fixed, and then returned to their outdoor home. Must have a knowledge of feral cats and have reliable transportation.GCHS will provide the traps and vet services.
